Raw Material Verification

Quality questions we hear most often
Is Oakmet ISO 9001 certified?
Oakmet's manufacturing partners are selected and audited for certifications appropriate to each program, including ISO 9001. Oakmet's own quality process covers drawing review, in-process inspection, and pre-shipment verification on every order.
Can Oakmet support PPAP submissions?
Yes. Oakmet can coordinate PPAP-aligned documentation packages including dimensional reports, material certifications, process flow diagrams, control plans, and first article inspection records. The level of PPAP support (Level 1–5) depends on your customer requirements. Let us know your documentation expectations when submitting your RFQ.
Can Oakmet coordinate third-party testing and inspection?
Yes. Oakmet works with accredited third-party inspection agencies and testing laboratories. We can coordinate NDT (RT, UT, MT, PT), chemical and mechanical testing, PMI, pressure testing, and third-party source inspection as required. We also support customer-nominated inspection agencies.
Can Oakmet support traceability for critical materials?
Yes. Material traceability is a core part of our quality workflow. For critical parts, we maintain heat-to-part traceability from raw material (mill certificates) through processing and shipment. Records are retained and provided with delivery documentation. For high-criticality programs, we can discuss expanded traceability requirements.
Can Oakmet manage pilot runs before full production?
Yes. We typically support a structured sampling workflow: initial sample production → first article inspection → customer approval → production release. For new tooling programs, we coordinate sample production separate from production tooling release, giving customers the opportunity to review and approve before volume commitment.
What NDT methods can Oakmet coordinate?
Oakmet coordinates all standard NDT methods including radiographic testing (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle inspection (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), and visual inspection. For specialized requirements such as phased array UT or TOFD, we work with qualified labs to meet your specification requirements.
Does Oakmet perform inspections in-house?
Oakmet coordinates quality planning and inspection through qualified supplier partners and third-party labs rather than maintaining an in-house inspection floor. This lets us apply the most appropriate inspection resources to each program. For critical applications, we can arrange independent third-party source inspection at the manufacturing location.
How does Oakmet handle non-conforming material?
When a non-conformance is identified, Oakmet initiates a containment and escalation process: lot segregation, root cause investigation, corrective action (8D or equivalent), and re-inspection before release. We document non-conformances and provide corrective action reports to the customer on request. Continued production holds pending resolution.
Can Oakmet supply to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 requirements?
Yes. Oakmet regularly sources materials and components for sour service (H₂S) environments compliant with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156. This includes alloy selection, heat treatment specification, hardness testing, and documentation of compliance. We work with foundries and forge shops familiar with NACE requirements.
